The Video Analysis Workspace allows non-Observer users to review and analyze any videos uploaded to their Video Insights accounts. This document provides an overview of the tools and resources available within the Video Analysis Workspace.
Note: Only Project Leaders, Administrators, Research Coordinators, and Collaborators can access the Video Analysis Workspace.
The following restrictions apply when using the Video Analysis Workspace:
- Videos must be loaded in .mp4 format.
- Video tools and features are not supported for Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer.
- The use of video tools and features is limited to desktop devices.
Accessing the Workspace
The Video Analysis Workspace is accessible from the Project Page. To access a video in the workspace, select the video tile for that video on the Project Page.

Viewing the Workspace
The Video Analysis Workspace contains a variety of video analysis and feedback options. The following section includes a numbered list with a short description of each of its available tools and features:
- Title: The title of the video, as it appears across Video Insights. To edit the video title, you must return to the Responses page. Click the arrow to return to the Responses page.
- Video Player: The video player. You can use the onscreen features to play, pause, or skip to any part of the video. You can also control the video’s volume and toggle a full-screen view of the video.

Filters: A list of filters by which to view your transcript, as well as any marks or clips you have created. Click a filter to apply it. Applied filters will be highlighted in blue and can be removed with another click.
- Sentiment: The overall tone and emotional classification of the selected video content.
- Entities: Identifiable objects such as people, places, locations, organizations, brands, etc. that are unique to the selected video content.
- Key phrases: Extracted phrases that best describe the key subjects of the selected video content.

Settings: The video settings menu, where you can toggle viewing video settings and additional features. Includes the following options:
- Transcription: The video transcription menu, where you can review your video’s transcription details and choose to order a human transcription.
- Showreel Builder: The Showreel Builder, which allows you to create, edit and organize video clips into a downloadable showreel. See 1: Viewing the Builder to learn more.
- Video Sources selector: allows you to switch between source videos to create a single showreel across multiple videos.
- Highlights: Potentially useful or interesting segments of the video transcript that have automatically been flagged by the editor for review. The number of highlights available correlates to the length of the video. See Viewing Highlights to learn more.
- Transcript: The computer-transcribed text script of the video. The transcript is automatically generated when the video is loaded into the Video Analysis Workspace and displayed here with unique segmentation tools. See Viewing Transcripts to learn more.
- Marks: User-created segments that flag important video content. Marks can be created using the “+” button at the top of the tab. See Creating Marks to learn more.
Initial Loading Issues
When accessing a video for the first time in the Video Analysis Workspace, you may see the text “Working on it” in place of some features. This means that the system is still processing the video. Wait for a few minutes and then refresh the screen to see the features.
If a video was loaded prior to your organization’s switch to the new Video Insights interface, an option to analyze the video will appear. You must only do this once for any older video you would like to analyze. Analysis takes anywhere from 4-20 minutes, depending on video length.
Trouble with Older Videos
Some older videos may not automatically be processed when loaded into the Video Analysis Workspace. On such occasions, you will see the text “NLP not available” in place of various features. To start processing the video, click the “Analyze” button that appears.
